When introducing a new tool to my son, I often put together a bit of a song. I’ve found this especially helpful for tools that my Son can’t use. The song seems to break his strong attraction to wanting to use it and avoids a tantrum. Here is one example:
– The Rasp Rap –
I’ve got big teeth, so I eat lots of wood.
I round it, I curve it, I shape it real good.
Rippa riippa rippa is the sound I make.
Pushin me forward on the wood I skate.
I am a RASP and this is my RAP.
Watch out for my teeth cuz they cut with just a tap
Rippa Rippa Rippa Rippa Raaaassssp!
